First Foods

The First Foods project includes the diverse experiences of Métis and First Nations parents living in southern urban centres within western and central Canada, along with the perspectives of care providers and Elders in these urban environments.

Arts-Based Research

This project uses a collaborative approach and digital storytelling to illustrate how participation and alignment with Indigenous ways of knowing and doing support community leadership and participation in Indigenous maternal, infant and toddler health and wellness initiatives.

First Foods lays the groundwork to develop breast/chestfeeding supports as pathways towards Indigenous food sovereignty.

Participants shared the importance of cultural safety and social supports through their digital stories.
